The Parenting Partnership's Welcome to Parenting Program

Welcome to The Parenting Partnership™ Program. We are so happy that you have registered for this program! This program includes both weekly web sessions and face-to-face classes. The website for this program includes not only the web sessions but other interesting areas full of information for first-time parents.

This short quick tour will highlight some of this website's key areas. The tour will help you navigate around the website and should only take about 5 minutes. If you wish to review this tour at any time in the future just return to the home page and click on Quick Tour.

For the best results:

• Use any PC with a high speed internet connection.
• Set monitor resolution at 1024 by 768 pixels.
• Use one of the following browsers: Internet Explore 7 & 8, Firefox, Safari or Chrome.
• Open your browser’s system preferences and make sure that JavaScript is enabled and that the browser is set to accept cookies.
• Download Adobe Reader if you do not have it.

To learn more about the program, click the tab About the Program.

To get started you will need to create your account:

• Click the Sign Up Here Button and follow the steps.
• Once you have created your account to return to the website click the Sign In Here Button on the button right corner.

Create Your Account

Select all 3 courses, enter your promotional code and click Next Step.

Fill in your account information including a username and password. Be sure to keep this in a safe spot, you will use this password to log into the website.

Don’t forget to click the boxes next to the Website Terms of Use and the Protection of You Personal Information. Click Next Step and Confirm the information that you have entered and Click Payment.

Private Home Page

This is your private home page. From here you can visit the Topic Centre, post questions in The Parenting Q & As, start your weekly sessions in My Journey, meet the other parents and Parent Educators in the Parent Zone. As well, you can check out critical information in Red Flags.

My Journey

When you click the My Journey Tab- it will show all the weekly sessions in each of the 3 modules. Click on the week you wish to view and it will open the articles and activities for that week.

Web Session Introduction

The web session screen will open and you will see an overview of the topics for the session. Essential learning will be identified and listed first, followed by additional activities. We have aimed to keep the total time for the essential topics to about 20- 25 minutes to fit the busy lives of new parents. To give you an idea of how long it might take to go through each activity, each session provides estimated timeframes. Links to any related resources such as websites, other articles and so on will appear in the left margin for you to access.

You can either progress through the session by clicking the next button or use the left navigation bar and click on the title that you want to open. Have fun exploring the various topics!

Ideas at Your Fingertips

One of the tabs you may use frequently is The Topic Centre. The Centre includes information from the website, such as documents you would find in the Related Resources section and all the articles and activities from the web sessions. Just click on the topic areas listed, and articles and activities related to that topic will appear. You may enjoy surfing the Library for topics that are of interest to you.

You can also search topics by keyword, using the search key found at the top right corner of the page. To perform a search, type in key words such as "breastfeeding" or "couple relationship" and click the search button.

Tips and Advice Are Just A Few Clicks Away

The Red Flags tab takes you to a section that has information about signs and symptoms that you should contact your doctor or healthcare provider about.
